Harrisburg, PA - Due to a few games rescheduled, OW2 Team Red had a jam-packed two days with three of their official series being played. The first series was against the Lincoln Land CC Loggers (3-4) with a final score-line of 0-3.
The second series was against the Hudson Valley Vikings (6-1). The first map was Oasis for Control. Round 1 went the way of the Vikings as they held the point the entire round. Round 2 seemed like it'd go similarly, but at 93%, the Hawks wiped the Vikings off the point and took it for themselves. Unfortunately, they were only able to get 32% before losing the point once again and lost the round. Map 2 was King's Row for Escort. The Hawks defended round 1, and were really able to stall the Vikings push, but just couldn't prevent them from getting to the last checkpoint with 43 seconds left. Switching to attack, the Hawks NEARLY push the game into overtime as they get the Payload to less than 3 meters from the last checkpoint before getting wiped. An amazing Reaper ULT coming from Team Captain Jake "TacoFiles" Gilbert was a highlight of the map - as he jumped straight into the entire enemy team, got a double kill, and escaped a Reinhardt pin with only 1 health left to survive. Map 3 went to Circuit Royal for Escort. The Hawks started on attack and, despite getting met with a tough defense in the beginning, managed a pretty solid push throughout the round. They begin to really get stalled out on the hill going up to the second checkpoint though, and are only able to make it a little over halfway there before running out of time. Next round, the Vikings have a much more aggressive attack and beat the Hawks distance with 4 minutes left on the clock. The final series score was 0-3. A tough game for the Hawks against an opponent that nearly went undefeated in the season.
The third series and final match of the season was against the Peninsula College Pirates (1-6). The series started on Nepal for a match of Control. The Hawks came out strong as they took the first round without letting the Pirates get any time on the point. The second round started with an all-out brawl on the point, with the Hawks coming out on top and taking control first. After Hawks getting 36%, the Pirates took the point for themselves and got up to 34% before losing it. The entire round goes back and forth like this until finally, tied 99%-99%, the Hawks overtake the Pirates in OT and win the map. The second map went to King's Row. The Hawks started on attack and took the point early in the round. With a lot of time and a nonstop push, the Hawks get the Payload all the way to the end with almost 4 minutes to spare. Switching to defense the Hawks didn't let the Pirates take any ground and kept them off of the point for the entire round, easily winning the second map. The third and final map was Rialto for Escort. The Hawks started on attack and took the payload early, pushing it all the way to the second checkpoint before getting wiped. With nearly 5 minutes left, the Hawks had plenty of time to get the Payload back and push it to the end of the map. On defense, the Hawks had an amazing hold against the Pirates, and didn't even allow them to hit the first checkpoint. The final score-line of the series was 3-0 in the Hawks favor!
A great performance coming from Team Red and a great way to finish out what has been a hard season for them.
