Hawks Hold Off Lehigh Carbon for Win at Home

Harrisburg, PA –  The HACC Hawks men's basketball team faced the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College Thursday night. The Hawks had lost to the Cougars at the start of the season and looked capture the win. The Hawks came out the first half firing on all cylinders, taking the lead which continued into the second. The Cougars put up a tough battle, but the Hawks capitalized and held the lead, taking the victory 78-70.

The Hawks took the lead early in the first half with the Cougars trailing behind, struggling to gain momentum. The Hawks scored early and often, with Keith Davis rallying 14 in the first half, Anthony Alviani with nine points, and Elijah Thomas with ten points. It was a team effort as Diego Brito Gonzales added five points to the board. Matthew Fravel and Christian Bingaman following both with two. At the break, the Hawks led 44-29. Going into the second half the Hawks held the lead, as they continued to capitalize offensively creating opportunities to score. The Cougars responded back with 41 points in the second, working to close the gap, only giving the Hawks a 7-point lead. However, the Cougars ran out of time and the Hawks took the victory, ending the match 78-70.  

The Hawks had four players score in double figures. Leading the pack was Keith Davis, with a triple-double capturing 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. Anthony Alviani rallied 16 points for the Hawks with nine rebounds and nine assists. Elijah Thomas followed, capturing 14 points with six assists and six rebounds. Christian Bingaman added 13 points to the board with five assists and two rebounds.

The Hawks face Bucks County Community College home on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. 

The Hawks women's basketball team will hit the road to face Camden Community College on Tuesday, February 15, 2022  at 6 p.m.
