Hawks Hold Off Phantoms for Win at Home

Harrisburg, PA –  The HACC Hawks men's basketball team faced the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College Thursday night. The Hawks came out the first half firing on all cylinders, looking to bounce back from the team's loss against Thaddeus Stevens. The Phantoms put up a tough battle, but the Hawks capitalized and held the lead, taking the victory 82-77.

The Hawks battled for the lead in the first half with the Phantoms just ahead by a few points. The Hawks trailed behind, but put forth a strong defense to hold the Phantoms at 30-39 in the first half. The second half the Hawks gained momentum and captured the lead. The Hawks scored early and often, with Vincent Fonticoba leading the squad rallying 12 in the second half, Javon Ford with eight points, Lincoln Morris with ten points and Phoenix Gruver with 14 points. It was a team effort as the Hawks continued to capitalize offesnively creating opportunities to score. The Phantoms responded back with 38 points in the second, working to close the gap, only giving the Hawks a 5-point lead. However, the Phantoms ran out of time and the Hawks took the victory, ending the match 82-77.  

The Hawks had three players score in double figures. Leading the pack was Vincent Fonticoba with a double-double capturing 24 points and 14 rebounds. Lincoln Morris rallied 16 points for the Hawks with five rebounds and seven assists. Phoenix Gruver followed, capturing a double -double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Matthew Fravel earned a double-double adding 12 points to the board and 12 rebounds.

The Hawks hit the road on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022 to face Northampton Community College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
