Hawks Unable to Rally Against Mustangs

Harrisburg, PA – The HACC Hawks men's basketball team faced Montgomery County CC in their season opener on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023. The Hawks fell to the Mustangs 92-54.  

Both teams came out strong the first half battling to take the lead. The Mustangs brought the intensity, setting the tone for the game working to hold the lead over the Hawks, shooting a FGM percentage of 41.3% as the Hawks trailed behind shooting a FGM percentage of 33.3%. ending the first half 51-25. At the start of the second, the Hawks changed momentum and with a team effort worked to close the gap. The game was evenly matched and in the second half free throws became crucial. The Hawks shot 53.3% from the charity stripe in hopes gain the lead, but the Mustangs were able to capitalize offensively and take the lead to the finish. The Mustangs took the victory, ending the match 92-54.

The Hawks had two players score in double figures. Leading the pack was Jaiden Baltimore with a game high of 19 points and Trey Slayton with 16 points for the Hawks. Vincent Fonticoba followed with nine points and three rebounds. Isaiah Bostic rallied five points with two rebounds for the Hawks.

The Hawks will face Lehigh Carbon CC on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
