Hawks Honor Sophomores, Falls to Buccaneers

Harrisburg, PA – The HACC Hawks men's basketball team faced the Buccaneers of Atlantic Cape Community College on Monday night. The HACC Hawks put forth a strong team effort but ran out of time, falling to the Buccaneers 122-89.

Monday was Sophomore Recognition Day for the HACC Hawks. HACC honored five sophomores; Vincent Fonticoba, Isaiah Bostic, Mohamed Abdou Hamani, Lincoln Morris, and Samuel Efekele for their hard work and unwavering dedication to the program throughout their time at HACC. The sophomores were celebrated in a short ceremony before the start of the game.

 

Both teams came out strong the first half battling to take the lead. The Hawks brought the intensity, setting the tone for the game working to gain an advantage over the Buccaneers. The Hawks shot an FMA percentage of 91.9% while shooting 81.3% at the charity stripe and 100% at the three-point line. At the start of the second, the Hawks changed momentum and with a team effort worked to close the gap. The game was evenly matched and in the second half free throws became crucial. But the Buccaneers were able to capitalize offensively and take the lead to the finish. The Buccaneers took the victory, ending the match 122-89.

Leading the pack was Jaiden Baltimore with a game high of 32 points. Vincent Fonticoba followed with 20 points, five steals and four rebounds. Mohamed Abdou Hamani rallied 10 points with seven rebounds for the Hawks. Trey Slayton added 17 points on the board for the Hawks offense.
