Hawks Fall to Spartans 3-2 in Thrilling Match

Harrisburg, PA – The Hawks volleyball team lost to Northampton CC in the Region 19 Championship, 3-2 to conclude Region 19 post season play with a 4-3 conference record and 11-8 overall.

 

Match 1: HACC 2, Northampton CC 3 – Final

The HACC Hawks set the tone for Saturdays match as they took the lead early wining the first and second sets (25-18, 25-21). The Spartans bounced back in the third set after a hard-fought win, with a score of 25-22 sending the game into a fourth set. The Hawks put forth a valiant team effort and battled back but was unable to keep pace with the Spartans as Northampton continued to dominate in the fourth, making the match even; 2-2. The game then entered the deciding fifth set, where the Spartans captured the lead and were up 10-6. The HACC Hawks with a late push were able to close the gap and narrowly take the lead 13-12, however the Spartans were able to fight back and rally off three more points to take back the lead 15-14. The Spartans captured the win and the Region 19 Championship.

 

Tennison McGraw and Mackenzie Maass were two offensive powerhouses for the Hawks. McGraw recorded 10 kills, while Maas recorded 24 kills. Camryn Heth led the squad in serve aces recording three for the team's offense. Kaitlin Pluta was active with 34 digs and recorded two serve ace. Camryn Heth fed her team all night tallying 32 assists.
