Coach Neftali “Getm” Perez attended trade school at Lincoln Technical Institute where he received his Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology.  He began working at HACC in 2015 as a user support technician for the York Campus.  Throughout his years at HACC, he has been involved in various IT projects and is now a Client Services Administrator for the Harrisburg Campus.  Coach Nef was invited by Lisa Cleveland, the Director of Wellness, Athletics, Recreation and Engagement, to join HACC’s eSports Steering Committee, along with members, Computer Information Systems professor, Robert Schanke and Testing Specialist, Amy Gainor.  The team’s goal was to establish HACC’s first intercollegiate esports program, while providing a platform for general student participation.  Nef, having a lifelong passion for video games and the art of PvP (Player vs Player Combat), was excited by the opportunity to help get the program off the ground.  Lisa Cleveland recognizes Nef’s talent,“It became apparent early in our planning that Coach Nef has the technical skill, love for the game and desire to help others improve that are necessary to be a good coach.” As the head coach, he created and now manages the private Discord server for the HACC E-Sports program, manages the day to day practices and weekly tournament matches.  Nef enjoys strategizing with the team captains to optimize team potentials, as well as, producing matches to the HACC Hawks E-Sports twitch channel, https://www.twitch.tv/haccesports.

Coach Nef credits a lot of the IT knowledge he has gained throughout the years to his love of video games, “As video games got more graphically demanding it kind of forced me to crack my tower open and see how I could get that high detailed buttery 60 FPS framerate for some of my favorite games.  From there on my curiosity kept asking about higher quality parts, importance of airflow, hardware diagnostics and monitoring tools it really became quite the addiction lol”  Coach Nef “Getm” Perez is proud to be a part of HACC History as the first HACC E-Sports Head Coach.  Nef resides in Harrisburg with his Aussiedoodle, Raynor.  He likes to spend his free time running and hiking with Raynor, or ranking up in his favorite video games.
